Over the past few years The Gallitzin American Legion Post 174, owner of the Oriental Ballroom in Gallitzin, PA., had been experiencing poor performance of the existing sound system. After reviewing submitted proposals and comparing the EASE data prepared by Bob Capotosto of ATS, the decision was made to proceed with the ATS proposal even though the cost was approximately two thousand dollars more than the next lowest quote. The design called for a four zone approach with each zone covered by a row of speakers. Two rows would cover the main floor while two additional rows would cover the raised seating areas. The computer program clearly demonstrated that the ATS design would provide superior voice coverage when compared to the other designs.
Existing vs. Proposed System

The A.T.S proposal was to include eight Electro Voice EVID 4.2 speakers
for the main floor coverage. Four would be provided on each side of
the main floor. The raised seating area on each side of the main floor
would be covered by six EVID 3.2 speakers with three speakers per side.
The system would be based around a DX 38 for all equalization, time
alignment and limiting to ensure proper speaker operation and protection.

The input of the system was from a single Audio Technica podium microphone
with a Rolls RM 67 serving as the mixer. The rolls unit was chosen because
of its ease of operation and the RCA inputs for the addition of a music
source. Two amplifiers were installed with each channel of amplification
powering a zone. System tuning and time alignment was performed using
SMAART LIVE software.
